Start with the visit that has a gate

Upper Duden is the sensible first stop for this itinerary because it is a ticketed park with an admission window. Begin at a time the operator confirms, rather than treating a sample itinerary as an opening-hours announcement. Walk the park, see the waterfall from outside and leave time for the cave passage if it is accessible.

Lower Duden’s public coastal park makes a contrasting second stop. It has no equivalent cave walk, so you are not simply repeating the first attraction in a different location. You finish with the cliff, the sea and a shorter open-air visit. This order also avoids leaving the ticketed attraction until the end of a day that might run late.

A practical sequence for the day

Use the schedule below as a set of flexible blocks. The suggested allowances are for planning, not measured queue times or promises about how quickly everyone can walk. A family with small children or a group spending a long time on photographs may want longer breaks and fewer extra stops.

Start from the hotel with a return plan already in mind. If you are travelling from outside Antalya, add the full outward and return journeys to these blocks. A day trip from Side is a different commitment from a short drive out of Kaleiçi or a visit from the Lara coast.

The transfer is not a walk along the river

The waterfalls share a river system, but that does not create a visitor trail connecting the two parks. Our OSRM car-route sample, using OpenStreetMap landmark coordinates on 6 September 2026, returned about 18.2 km between the upper and lower locations. A distance quoted along the river or measured in a straight line is not the same as this road journey.

The route sample has no live traffic and connects representative points to the road network, not a reserved parking space or guaranteed drop-off entrance. Open the current route before departing. If you are using separate taxis, agree where to meet each driver. If you have a driver for the day, confirm whether waiting and the second waterfall are included.

Plan lunch to support the route

A meal break is most useful when it sits naturally between the visits. You do not need to make a separate journey across the city simply because a restaurant appeared in a general Antalya itinerary. Decide whether you want a proper lunch, a short snack stop or a meal after returning to your hotel.

In hot weather, use the middle of the day to sit down, drink water and reduce the pace. At Upper Duden, ask about the current facilities when you arrive. Around the coast, check the menu and prices before ordering. A day with two walks becomes much more comfortable when the break is an intentional part of the plan rather than something arranged only after everyone becomes tired.

How to shorten the itinerary

With only a short time available, choose the waterfall that matches your main interest and drop the other transfer. Pick Upper Duden for the cave and green park. Pick Lower Duden for the waterfall meeting the sea, a free public viewing area and a coastal stop.

You can also keep both waterfalls but remove additional sightseeing. There is little value in rushing through the cave because you have added a shopping stop, a boat tour and another distant attraction. If weather or traffic changes the day, preserve the experience you care about most. The route planner can show a single-stop suggestion as well as the two-waterfall option.

Adding a boat trip changes the day

A boat view of Lower Duden is different from the park view and requires its own departure arrangements. Do not add a cruise to the itinerary as if you can simply board from the clifftop viewpoint. Confirm the harbour or jetty, the actual route, boarding time and return location with the provider.

A longer cruise can become the main activity of the day rather than a small extra. If seeing the waterfall from the sea is your priority, consider pairing the boat with a shorter land visit or making Upper Duden a separate outing. Allow enough time for boarding and the return transfer, particularly if a flight or cruise-ship connection follows the excursion.

Adjust the day to your group

For children, alternate movement with a break and avoid expecting the whole group to complete every cave or park section. For visitors with mobility needs, confirm the specific route between the entrance and a suitable viewpoint. An attractive photograph does not tell you whether a path has steps or an unbroken level surface.

In winter or wet weather, keep the exposed coastal stop for a calmer part of the day. In summer, carry water and choose a pace that works in the heat. Once the practical parts are arranged, the advantage of this itinerary is simple. You see the same river in two very different settings without confusing them or spending the whole day in transit.
