Do not visit Düden expecting to swim under the waterfall. The waterfalls are sightseeing and walking experiences; any swimming stop on a boat trip is a separate location.
The basin at Upper Düden
The basin seen from the cave is not a swimming pool. Flow, slippery surfaces and site boundaries are reasons to keep your visit on marked paths. A social media photograph of someone in the water does not establish that swimming is permitted or safe. Follow instructions from site staff.
Where Lower Düden reaches the sea
The drop beneath the cliffs is not a beach accessed from the viewing park. Do not try to descend from the park or cross the barriers. Follow the captain’s approach limits on a boat. Treat the viewing-park visit and a swim in the sea as different activities.
A boat trip that includes swimming
Some tours may offer a swimming stop at a separate bay or suitable sea location. Ask about its position, weather changes and equipment. “Swimming included” does not mean stopping under the waterfall. Your swimming ability and the captain’s assessment on the day still matter.
